- Hear or be heard?
- Care or be cared for?
- Give or be given?
- Understand or be understood?
Which would you rather do?
Which do you think describes you?
Which do you think describes the sun?
I spent a fair part of my existence
- Looking without seeing
- Listening without hearing
- Learning without knowing
- Fearing fear instead of danger
- Saying yes to others
- Saying no to me
- Not keeping my word
- Giving up
- Avoiding confrontations
Do any of these ring a bell?
Can you relate?
If so, you know I was on the easy road most traveled.
Then I realised two things
- Going for the easy journey has you end up with not much of either.
- Learn so that you can then do is an anxiety reaction and avoidance behavior. You learn by doing, or you’ll never learn at all, or worse, you’ll abandon your calling altogether.
You might think easy is fun for a while, in the short run, but you’ll only find yourself regretting it in the long run, and if you don’t forgive yourself, to the end of your days.
When you take the easy road — not keep your word, give up, and lose your friends along the way — you’ll soon find yourself lying in bed thinking of the things that might have been.
Takeaway
“The key to wealth is gratitude.” – John Templeton
“Forgiveness is giving up all hope of having had a better past.” – Anne Lamott
Adventure and true friends are on your side when you say no, keep your word, don’t give up, stand up for yourself, and do it your way.
