Wordexplosion is published every Tuesday and covers topics as diverse and colorful as the words we use every day. The best time to read it is now. After all, you don’t have time to rush today or do you?

In last week’s wordexplosion, we saw you DO what everybody does. In this week’s wordexplosion #46, let’s take a look…

…at what you also do when your health, energy and time allow.

You DO PLAY

You DO play because you cannot learn less and there isn’t a more effective way to learn than play.

DO you play with the idea this might be true? Then you know what wordexplosion is about — you.

When you play with family and friends — like hide-and-seek, badminton or Monopoly — do you lose sleep the night before? Do you worry what the others will think of your performance? Do you wonder how your childhood might influence your moves? Do you replay your moves the day after?

Of course you don’t. Because play is fun. You know no matter what happens, nothing about it can distrackt you from the 100% energy, 70% water, and 30% fire-air-earth you are.

Young word-users play hard to get, mature word-users play hard and old word-users just play. You play when you grow up and when you’re lucky you become more playful with age.

You might not win but you’ll be wiser for the playing, not less. The more you play, the more fun you have, the more you grow, the better you get. That’s why you are here, to play with the idea this might be true.

Many word-users believe it takes talent to grow old and stay playful at the same time. Not so. All it takes is play.

When you see work and play as equally important, it won’t be long before there’s no difference between the two.

You play soccer and you don’t play boxing. You know the difference between the two. And you also know the best way to play some games is not to play.

“What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes?” – Carl Young

In the wordless world

In the wordless world, naturally mistaken for nature, nothing plays for the self-evident reason that the wordless world is void of words.

In the wordy world

In the wordy world, what later becomes mainstream begins as trash.

Children play — with the idea of crawling, sitting, walking and talking — long before they know play will later be a word.

Our kids know they do their best learning by playing long before their first day at school. That’s because they’re born with the intelligence of the energy, water, fire, air and earth they’re made of. If our children are lucky, they get later sent to school with a teacher that encourages them to play with words and tells them the story of words too, which won’t change the children but will change the world.

WORD-USE

Words are how you aim at what you’re looking for.

ELECTRIC QUOTE

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.” – George Bernard Shaw
