The story of words hasn’t been told before which means:

  • It is new.
  • It is based on what can be denied only by confirming it.

Though the story of words is new and for the first time based on what can be denied only by confirming it, that doesn’t mean it is fighting the old.

Nothing good ever comes from fighting the old. Nothing ever could — unless you believe fighting is good.

No fighting going on.

The story of words simply makes the stories previously told obsolete.

Among the fascinating features of words is that’s what you’re looking at since this article began to the end, from its headline to its takeaway, and of course everything in between — nothing but words.

You can see them but you cannot touch ’em

As you read on, should you mistake my use of words to contain any truths, relax, it‘s a common mistake that happens in the best of families.

There are no truths here to be found.

The only thing you’ll find here are words.

More than a thousand in fact.

What you do with them is all up to you.

You’re in control.

Truth

All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie.

If despite this you believe what’s told at kindergartens, schools, and universities, that means you’re among the many who believe in a beginning without an end.

That means you believe in the beginning is a big bang, a fictional character, or a mystery.

Though a beginning without an end is impossible, you won’t be arrested by the police. On the contrary, it only means that like the police you’re part of the majority.

Only if you’re part of the minority do you practice active noticing of what’s going on within you and without you.

Only a minority of word-users know how within you and without you began.

In the beginning is the word

That in the beginning is the word can be denied only by confirming it.

In other words, you cannot deny a word without using it.

But even so, a question remains for those of you who find it hard to believe in a beginning you may not have heard about or thought of previously.

“In the beginning of what?”

Naturally, the answer is “In the beginning of everything you have a word for.”

Other than that?

Other than in the beginning of everything we have a word for, what else is word?

Before you can even begin to understand word, there are two steps you might find hard to take.

  • Accept there is a difference between what word is, what word does, and what word has.
  • Accept there’s no difference between word and words.

In singular and plural they is/are, does/do, and has/have the identical.

When you accept that word and words are the same, you then also understand that how one word works is how all words work.

You are naturally free to not accept the two steps most word-users find hard to take, if at the same time you also accept that you won’t understand word and words in exchange.

You may even ask why which words allow given that why is among them.

One step at a time: Words ARE

Words are the latest in the chain of inventions made by the four elements — fire, wind, earth, and water — that also invented the planet, the cells, the plants, the animals, the eyes and the brains, before they proceded to also invent the words and us, the word-users.

I hear you.

“If so, how can the word be in the beginning?”

The word is in the beginning of words, also known as in the beginning of the After Words, and in the end of wordless, also known as in the end of the Before Words.

Put differently, the word is in the beginning of everything you know.

Everything you know

You know beginning because you know what beginning describes.
You know Mount Everest because you know what Mount Everest describes.
You know screw because you know what screw describes.
You know driver because you know what driver describes.
You know tool because you know what tool describes.

And so it is with everything you know.

What else?

Maybe the fact that the word is in the beginning (of everything you have a word for) doesn’t answer every question you might have about words.

Perhaps one more question remains at the back of what many word-users consider the back of your mind (whatever that is supposed to be).

“What else can you show me?”

Well, In addition to in the beginning, words are a tool.

Like any tool, words can work for you or they can kill you.

But that has got nothing to do with the tool. It all depends on what you do with it.

It’s not the word. It’s the user.

You’re in control.

Keep your word and many decisions are already made

In that sense, the word is no different to your ears, eyes, brains, hands, hair, and feet.

You are in control.

Better act as if, or you will be constantly getting in your own way which will wear you out in the long run.

Or “assume the virtue if you have it not” (William Shakespeare).

And so it is with words.

A word by any other name is still a word.

The beauty of simplicity: Understanding the past through the lens of stimulus response

The vast expanse of Earth’s past can be written in a simple little formula.

Stimulus, Response.

Creation, Evolution, Invention

The events that have transformed our planet can be described as creations, evolutions, or inventions.

Who says de-scribe says it takes a scribe to de-scribe anything, and the only specie on Earth that uses words to de-scribe creations, evolutions, or inventions are we, the word-users.

Everybody knows that words don’t de-scribe the world, but that words only de-scribe how the word-users de-scribe what we’re looking at.

This is why the events that led up to you and me are de-scribed as creation, evolution, or inventions, that the world is de-scribed as inexistent, flat, round, small, or what’s next, and why you is described as inexistent, ancestor, human, homo sapiens, word-user, or whatever will be next.

Don’t underestimate the impact of words

Don’t underestimate the impact of words on you, which is easily done by those that ignore that everything they know is a word.

Words decide how you see you, and that when you change how you look at words, you change.

Stimulus response

Stimulus and our responses do not only explain what’s going on right now, but they also explain everything that happened in the past 4.65 billion years. By examining the past through the lens of stimulus response, we can understand the otherwise difficult to understand events of the past and how they continue to impact the world today.

The past

When we delve into the past and present, it becomes clear that there is a Before Words and an After Words.

The Before Words has taken up the first 99.9997% of the 4.65 billion years since the invention of Earth.

That means the After Words has been around for the most recent 0.0003% of the 4.65 billion years only.

In other words, the words and word-users have been invented 3/1000th of an Earth-Time second before midnight only.

To see what the words together with the word-users have achieved in these 3/1000th of an Earth-Time second, it’s enough to watch the news.

Past analysis

When we undertake an analysis of what happened in the past 4.65 billion years, we start to see what Vilfredo Pareto already saw 137 years ago, namely that roughly 80% of the responses come from 20% the vital few stimuli (stimuli being the plural of stimulus).

When read from top to bottom, the above depicted events are in complicated ways de-scribed as creation, evolution, or inventions.

But when read from bottom to top, the same events are simply the response to each preceding stimulus.

The beauty of simple

Down the path less traveled it’s obvious that each step is simply the response to the preceding.

In this way, the beauty of simplicity that emerges.

Among the chaos, we find that the most impactful events — such as the invention of the words which revolutionized evolution — are rooted in the simple yet powerful formula of “Stimulus, Response”.

This simple formula is the driving force behind all creation, evolution, and inventions.

The beauty of simplicity is not limited to the Before Words (99.9997% of Earth Time) or the After Words (0.0003% of Earth Time) but can be observed across the entire 4.65 billion years since the invention of Earth.

It applies equally to the invention of the brains in response to the earlier invention of the eyes, as to the invention of liberty-equality-fraternity in response to the French revolution.

By embracing simplicity, we gain a better understanding of how it all began, of what happened since the beginning, and of what’s going on as we speak.

The beauty of simple reminds us that intelligence is not within us, in our heads, but without us, in the energy of the fire, air, earth and water that invented Earth and everything that followed, including us.

Decision-making: A guide for those who can’t decide whether they want to read this article or not

While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to decision-making, if you ask the internet, ChatGPT, or other forms of AI, they will want you to believe that decision-making is a complicated, complex, multifaceted process.

I’m not saying decisions are easy. All I’m saying is it doesn’t have to be this hard.

Good and bad

Between a bad and a good decision is no difference. They both feel equally right at the right time.

With hindsight we convince ourselves, and others, that every bad decision was caused by something bad in turn. But when we pay attention to the road ahead, we accept that we will never know what’s up around the bend or behind a new horizon.

Therefore, relax. Had you ever made a bad decision on your journey between birth and death before, you wouldn’t be here.

Take a deep breath and let’s dive right in.

The good news

The good news is that we can get better at our decisions. All it takes is more bad decisions. If you make enough bad decisions, it is inevitable that some good decisions will slip through which isn’t known to ever have failed yet.

Learn from mistakes

Wrong decisions are an inevitable part of the get-it-right process. Remember you learned to walk by falling.

Dwelling on the falls will only wear you out in the long run.

Big vs small

All decisions are not the same. On the contrary, the vital few are a few and far between, and the majority of decisions are small and unimportant.

If that reminds you of the Pareto principle which states that the vital few outcomes will always come from a few causes, great! If not, “Give me a fruitful error any time, full of seeds, bursting with its own corrections, and you can keep your sterile truths for yourself” (Vilfredo Pareto).

Your vital few outcomes will always come from a vital few decisions.

These are your BIG decisions from atop the pyramid.

BIG decisions are about the WHAT and about the long term (as opposed to the cursed HOW and the short term).

Unless you want to start with the HOW decisions at the bottom of the pyramid, let’s begin with your WHAT decisions first.

Know what you want

For that it helps knowing that you’ve responded to your most pressing wants since before you were born. And you respond as we speak — whether you know it, are aware of it, or like it, or not.

In other words, to get your BIG decisions made, all you must do is figure out your most pressing wants for the later part of your journey. Not because it will be later, but because the only way to influence your later is by your decisions now.

When you know WHAT you want, many HOW down the road are already decided before they show up.

What YOU want

What YOU want is the BIGgest decision atop the pyramid.

Everything you want to imagine is on a permanent buffet free for the taking far beyond anything you can imagine.

It’s permanent because it’s got nothing to do with whether you and me exist or not.

What’s temporary is your existence, hence your decisions. You only exist once and there’s no freedom in whether you decide or not. Every time you don’t decide, you’ve already made a decision anyway. You can ask why of course, because that’s the beauty of no freedom.

This explains, among other things, why you’ve decided your most pressing wants since before you were born, and why you’ve been doing it ever since, 100% of the time.

At the risk of repetition, you are not free to not decide, and that’s whether you love it, know it, or are aware of it, or not. There’s nothing you can do about it, or you wouldn’t be here.

What YOU want: Part 2

You may want to…

  • Own it all (where would you put it?)
  • Know it all (knowing there’s always more to know)
  • Have everything money can buy
  • Be somebody else (they’ve got to walk in their own shoes)
  • Be certain in an uncertain world
  • Be free
  • Make the world a better place
  • Make you a better you

Nobody said it would be easy. But it doesn’t have to be this hard.

All you’ve got to do is decide once and for all.

The common mistake

The common mistake word-users make with decisions is deciding them over and over again. If that’s you, then your decision-making process looks like the one on the right.

I don’t know you. I don’t know how long it will last. But the graph on the right will wear you out in the long run.

Freedom

There is a space between the demand for a decision and your response. In this space you are free to decide your decision. That is where your freedom is.

Feel

To take advantage of your freedom, trust your feelings.

Your feelings decide what you go after and what you avoid. That’s because when we must decide between feelings and logic, feelings almost always win.

Heart

To be free, also embrace your heart.

What about in crisis mode?

Is a fresh crisis brewing? Good!

You have survived every crisis to-date, with a 100% success rate to boot, or you wouldn’t be reading this.

In crisis mode – with your back against the wall – you don’t decide based on what you know. In a crisis, you decide based on what you re-member only.

The best thing about crises is they are devastating only if you believe they will last forever and you know from personal experience they never do.

Why wait for a next crisis? You can focus on a small sphere and achieve a 100% success rate anytime. If that’s what you want.

Seek advice

When faced with a difficult decision, don’t be afraid to seek advice from friends within and without your family, but be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt. That said, even the internet can offer fresh perspectives you may have overlooked.

Most important

When it’s decision time, it’s all up to you. No other word and no other person can decide for you.

At decision time there’s no candle in the window. You’ve got to find your own way home.
