What do you think is the opposite of a pro mise? An amateur mise?
Just kidding.
But I’m not kidding when I say I found that promise is Latin for tell before. In other words, the opposite of tell before is tell after.
How come? I guess when English was invented, Deepl hadn’t been invented and translators were hard to find, so those in charge of England decided to keep promise and pronounce it English instead. It means English word-users that don’t speak Latin don’t know promise is tell before.
Of course, tell before is now known as foretell, and also as tell beforehand and predict.
Why tell before?
I don’t know why anyone foretold when Latin was spoken 2,700 years ago. Do you?
But I do know why anyone foretells now: It is never to foretell lightly, but things can go wrong and the foretold might never happen.
That the foretold doesn’t happen is okay when other word-users are involved, of course, but it ceases to be okay when you’re foretelling to you. Because no matter where you are on your journey, never foretell anything to yourself unless you are sure that you will muster the coeurage it takes for the foretold to come true when it’s time to deliver.
What to foretell?
Possible candidates:
- Foretell to praise the infinite intelligence of the energy, fire, air, earth, and water within you and without you.
- Foretell to care rather than be cared for, to understand rather than be understood, and to give rather than be given.
- Foretell to be coeurageous when you fear, grateful when you miss, and joyful when you regret.
- Foretell you are the master of your moments and to be present in each confident with enthusiasm.
- Foretell to look at your money with gratitude and excitement, to eat only when hungry, to listen, and to decide each new day the night before.
- Foretell to thank for the infinite passibilities to respond and for the honesty, coeurage, consideration, freedom, serenity, health, care, and strength.
- Foretell to magnetize unexpected income, to see yourself already in possession of the income, to make room for the good things to come to you, to be rewarded for your work, and to keep your word.
- Foretell that your vision is strong, that you’re tenacious, that you shall persevere, and what you’re trying to achieve is already done.
- Foretell health, happiness, and prosperity as often as possible.
- Foretell that your friends have something in them that you value and share with them.
- Foretell the best, to work for the best, and to expect the best from you and others.
- Foretell to be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
- Foretell to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
- Foretell to forget your past mistakes and see you with kind eyes instead.
- Foretell to greet everything you meet with a smile.
- Foretell to use all your energy to improve you and that you have none left to criticize others.
- Foretell to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy not to be.
- Foretell that you no longer focus on everything you have a word for, but only on the words you know instead.
If you ensure some or all the above foretellings come true, though some will be broken, you can achieve anything.
- “If you want to be successful, you must respect one rule. Never lie to yourself!” – Paulo Coelho
- “Don’t waste your time chasing butterflies. Mend your garden, and the butterflies will come.” – Mario Quintana
